“Web Design: 3 Biggest Mistakes To Avoid”
A decade ago, having a webpage was cool. Today, not having a webpage is almost primitive. Through a blog or a wiki or a webpage, everyone these days is present on the web, one way or the other.
There are websites on gossip, websites on politics and websites on sports and so on. Why, there are websites on websites as well! Does that mean everyone who wants to be on the web has to be a geek? No. All you need is a Content Management System.
At the event this week, the group will discuss the common mistakes people make when designing a web site. We’ll focus on how to break free from the sea of similar-looking websites and create a unique site that will draw people like a picnic draws ants! We’ll discuss a variety of ways to design a web site so that customers have a great experience.
Many people think that designing a web site is easy, it isn’t. Designing a web site that captivates, informs and motivates your target audience to take action is not easy. If you want to ensure that your readers and your customers understand your offering and take a specific action, you need to design your web site in a way that’s logical and leads them down a rose petal path to the action you want them to take.
People do not read a website in the same way that they would read printed material. It is important to remember that web users are active, not passive. So if they can not find a reason for staying on a site, then they will leave. Sometimes a person will leave 15 seconds after first entering the site. If your text is too long, then they are less likely to read it. If you have no headline or call to action, they will be left dazed and confused, and Confucious says: “Confused mind says NO.”
K.I.S.S. Keep it simple sweetheart. In order for any web site to be effective, it must not underestimate the importance of the basics. It’s an ancient principle in marketing, simple is better. If you just jump straight into your web design without getting feedback from others, you may find yourself in trouble, and your site may not be as effective as it could be at building and converting traffic.
Web Site are no longer optional. Get Online. Get Ranked.
We hope to see you this week at the workshop.
